Sophie Huart

After graduating from ULB in 1995 and spending some time in Asia, Sophie HUART became a member of the French Bar Association (Ordre des Avocats français du Barreau de Bruxelles). She specialises in corporate and commercial law, both in Belgium and internationally, and practices in this field on a daily basis.

She has published in various legal journals and has been a guest speaker at seminars on laws regulating new technologies and insolvency law.

She is a trustee in bankruptcy at the Business Court in Brussels since 2004, and is a specialist in matters of insolvency law and companies in difficulty. She regularly publishes or comments on the relevant legal provisions and case law.

She is called upon to act as company mediator, liquidator and provisional administrator for companies and associations. Sophie HUART has also successfully led several PRJs (judicial reorganisation procedures).

Within the firm, she deals with cases involving financial criminal law.

Sophie Huart is also an accredited mediator with the Federal Mediation Commission.

  • Accredited mediator in civil, commercial and family matters, registered within the Federal Mediation Commission and trained in non-violent communication, family and systemic constellations and transactional analysis.
  • Member of the Council of the French Bar Association of Brussels since 1 September 2020.
  • Treasurer of the French Bar Association of Brussels (2020-2022).
  • Chair President of the Diversity and Inclusion Commission set up in June 2022 within the Brussels Bar.
  • Member of the OBFG Gender Equality Committee.
  • Member of the OBFG Insolvency Practitioners’ Committee.

Academic positions
